America in Crisis

Keys to Kingdom Liviny
Volume 13 – Issue 165           June – 2016

It would be difficult to find anyone who is not concerned about the state of our country.  Year after year it seems as if our elected politicians and our government bureaucrats have given up on accomplishing anything that will be a benefit to those they are serving and have resigned themselves to existing in a state of perpetual gridlock.  This has raised the level of frustration of the electorate to such a degree that common sense and caution have been thrown to the wind and a wild consensus seems to have swept across the land that says, ‘desperate times call for desperate measures’.  This reckless abandonment of common sense reasoning to overcome the gridlock in Washington has us running like ‘lemmings’ towards the ‘cliff of change’ and none of us can be sure of what awaits us at the bottom.  Because of the level of frustration that our political parties have caused, our country has found itself running in unison towards their perspective cliffs and for the life of me, I cannot see how anyone can be confident that the two people who seem to be leading us all towards that plunge over the cliff are morally and intelligently competent to lead us anywhere that is good.

It is true our country is in a mess.  The pharmaceutical companies along with the medical profession have encouraged the broad unmonitored use of opiate based pain killers to such a degree that it has mushroomed into a massive heroin epidemic.  Our country contains 5% of the world’s population yet uses 80% of the world’s opiate pain killers.  The Supreme Court and their approval of same sex marriages has opened the door to a myriad of litigations that are affront to family values not to mention sane reasoning in which the transgender bathroom debate is just the tip of what the gay rights agenda are wanting to change.  As one governor, who is opposed to this insane mandate has said of the plans proposed by the gay agenda, in the near future look for a push to allow transgendered males in female showers, even for school age children. This doesn’t begin to touch the massive pornographic problem that is sweeping across our country and the world, thanks to the easy access via; computers, cell phones, the iPad, etc. this scourge is desecrating the hearts and minds of an entire generation.   Statistics have shown that as many as 50% of school age kids are sexting images or sending explicit sexual texts to other students.  As insidious as ISIS is in its attacks against humanity the access that pornography has unleashed will do more to damage our world than we can possibly imagine and yet we find the left drinking at the trough of ‘climate change’ as if that is the only thing worth talking about.

The church, which should be leading has for the most part joined the lemmings in their race towards the cliff.  When I read of how many Evangelicals are in favor of these two morally bankrupt leaders of our political parties I am mindful that most of these Evangelicals are EINO (Evangelical in Name Only). To define the term ‘evangelical” it is “of or relating to a Christian sect or group that stresses the authority of the Bible, the importance of believing that Jesus Christ saved you personally from sin and hell, and the preaching of these beliefs to other people.”  A good test for those voting would be if they could at least match the name of the person running for office with their picture and of course it would be best if they could have, at least, a basic understanding of the issues that they are voting on. It would also be good to have a test for those who claim to be Evangelicals.  Let me make it simple, you cannot be an evangelical and vote for someone who espouses their support of Planned Parenthood or same sex marriage, just to mention two.  I have heard people say one candidate is worse than the other so we need to vote for the ‘least worst’ of the two.  Which I do not agree with, I am a CO (Conscientious Objector) which leads me to believe that in all good conscious I must ask for Godly wisdom on whom I should vote, which at this point may be none of the current candidates.

Christians have been given the keys to the Kingdom of God, giving them the authority to bind and loose on earth as it is in heaven. This is done when our life and our prayers are in alignment with the will of God.  Many Christians have been swimming in the sea of compromise for so long that their daily choices and ultimately their will is far from God’s will, causing them to lean not on the authority of God but on man’s authority.  Their failure to take the moral truths found within the word of God and through perseverance make them real in their own lives negate their right to rule and reign as true disciples of Christ?

May the words of Joshua give us pause to consider for a moment, just who we are attempting to serve.  I wonder for a second if we need to take into consideration just who have we been serving that has propelled us to join in this maddening race which has us following folly over reason.

“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.  But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”  Joshua 24:14-15 (NIV)

FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST?

Pilate looked at Jesus and asked him “What is truth?” then turned around and joined the religious leaders in their mad rush towards the cliff’s edge of popular opinion with only the thought of personal convenience being his motivation.  The church must not compromise the truth set forth in the word of God. We know that our Father in His great love for us has set forth moral premises for our lives that if followed will give us an abundance of life and spiritual freedom. (John 10:10) God knows that compromise and deception lead to destruction and death and we must know that following His word will protect us from the plans that satan has to destroy us.

Our hope is found in the Kingdom of God not in the kingdom of this world.  It is not in the perpetuation of this earthly kingdom that will bring the answers that humanity desires to see but it is in the revealing of the hope found in the Kingdom of God and the salvation of our souls through Jesus Christ that will draw all men towards God and life!  God has the answers for this fallen world, and either we serve Jesus who said that his Kingdom was not of this world, John 18:36, or we serve the idea that we can have a divided loyalty by compromising Godly principles and joining worldly standards.  A house divided cannot stand.

We the disciples of Jesus need to look at what the leaders of the lemmings are saying, that Jesus is not enough and that his teachings lack the force to deal with the problems facing the world.  Jesus did not lose when he died on the cross!  He won even though His plan flies in the face of conventional worldly wisdom about what winning looks like.  We are here to establish the Kingdom of God by listening to and following the mandates Jesus has set down before us.  Jesus does not need a king to succeed, he is King!

In saying that we need to see that Jesus was consistently and passionately against any and all geo-political structures. Nor does his kingdom accomplish its goals using any of the methods used by the kingdoms of this world.  Anything other than the purity and holiness found in the Kingdom of God and our serving Jesus as our Lord and King leaves us with a kingdom saturated with man’s values, his goals and his insane visions for a better world.  Followers of Christ are invited to live from heaven towards earth, bringing the culture and values of God’s heart into this broken world where money, armies, resources, fear, competition, self-preservation and a host of other human creations vie for supremacy.

May we all be mindful that Christ Jesus is the only answer to the problems facing mankind. In the days that lay before us we must increasingly draw near to Him, praying fervently for our country and asking the Holy Spirit to guide us in all our actions and decisions.
